As Island Hideaway’s philosophy is to provide guests with privacy, luxury and nature, the resort takes extra measures to take car of the environment. Products such as paper, bags and containers are recycled and no plastic is used in the villas. Glass and aluminium are crushed and compacted before being sold to Male for recycling. All chemicals used I the kitchen, laundry and for other services is biodegradable and all compost waste such as tree leaves are used for fertilisation.
The overall philosophy of the resort management is to give priority to local personnel from the Atoll itself and as a result over 70% of all Butlers are local Maldivians, primarily from the local atoll. This was the first resort to be opened in the Haa Alifu Atoll in August 2005 and thus this new tourism development has provided an opportunity for local youngsters to be trained by hospitality professionals, giving them a great start in a career within the tourism sector, which is the most important employment sector in the Maldives. It is not uncommon to find guests visiting an inhabited island to visit their Butler’s house, to meet their family and appreciate their living conditions, as close relationships can be formed during a stay.

The Butler service is ideal. We were upgraded to a Dhonakalhi villa which was perfect for a family. Good kids club which was only used by our kids for most of the time. As always in the Maldives, the food got a bit boring towards the end of the holiday (we stayed 2 weeks).
