Facilities & Services

• Set in classic crescents and inspired in design by the Maasai mud-and-stick manyatta (homestead), there are three separate camps – North, South and Tree Camp.
• Daily game drives into the Crater in closed safari vehicles with pop-up roofs (07h00 to 14h00 and 15h00 to 18h00)
• Birdwatching, half-day trips to Olduvai Gorge and Shifting Sands (subject to vehicle availability).
• Optional activities at an additional cost include walking on the Crater rim, a cultural Maasai manyatta visit, sundowners overlooking the Crater on one side and the Serengeti on the other (minimum 10 guests).

Bars & Restaurants

• Each camp has a sitting and dining room, an outdoor dining area and viewing decks. The sitting rooms have woven banana bark ceilings and are adorned with hand beaded chandeliers, carved and gilded wall plaques, brocade sofas, Persian carpets, candles and bowls of red roses. The domed dining room with its welcoming fireplace, crystal, silver and massive wooden platters makes every meal a special occasion.
• Private bush breakfasts and lunches on the Crater floor can also be arranged.

Overview

Children are welcome at the Lodge. Please note that Children 5 years and younger cannot participate in the regular game drives whereas those aged 6 to 11 years are accommodated on game drives at the lodge manager’s discretion.

Safety

• Animals: The lodge is unfenced.
• Height: The tree camp (furthest away of the 3 camps) consists of 5 suites located in the trees. No triples can be accommodated in this camp so it is only suitable for those travelling with older children.

Room Types

The North and South Camp are each made up of 12 suites and the Tree Camp of 6 suites.

Each stilted suite is sumptuously furnished with panelled walls and floors made of Tanzanian hardwoods, rich raw silk curtains, hand beaded chandeliers, gilt mirrors, a fireplace and a butler’s lobby. Ensuite bathroom with a centrepiece of red roses has twin hand basins, shower, chandelierlit bathtub and separate w.c. All rooms are equipped with in room safe, telephone and hairdryer and feature decks with magnificent views of the Crater floor and.

Family

Triple rooms available for families at North and South Camps. Regretfully no triples can be accommodated at the Tree Camp.

Rates

The rates start at £593 per person for a suite which includes accommodation, 3 meals daily, all soft drinks, house wines, local brand spirits and beers, teas & coffees, refreshments on game drives, laundry and scheduled safari activities. (valid 01/04/12 – 31/05/12 and 11/11/12 – 20/12/12)

Family

• Children under 6 years sharing stay free of charge.
• Children age 6 to 11 years (sharing with 2 adults or 1 adult) subject to triple policy pay 50% of the full adult rate.
• First child (regardless of age) in own room pays full adult rate subsequent children 11 years & younger pay 50% of full adult rate.
• Children 12 to 16 years subject to triple policy pay full adult rate.
• Children in their own suite pay adult sharing rates.
