Bars & Restaurants

Generous portions of un-pretentious but well prepared food such as chicken and lamb tangine, cous cous, potatoes and vegetables are served along side olives and the most delicious berber bread, followed by fruit and biscuits for desert. This can be enjoyed by candlelight around traditional low tables in the evening or on the roof top terrace if weather permits, arguably one of the best dining venues in North Africa. Alternatively, if you have booked the Apartment, meals can be taken here.

Please note there is no choice available and that alcohol is not served at the hotel in respect of the local Islamic traditions, but you are welcome to bring your own (and many do!). This can be purchased from certain shops in Marrakech.

Overview

This is a wonderful opportunity to introduce children to a fascinating and friendly culture with walks suitable for all standards (a mule can be supplied if you are concerned about younger travellers). A variety of accommodation options are available, but we highly recommend The Apartment.

We can request a babysitter, but the Kasbah is not really a suitable experience for children under 2 years.

Rooms types

Superior and Deluxe Rooms are all en-suite offering comfortable beds and piping hot water in a simple, traditional style. Deluxe Rooms also benefit from a private terrace or balcony.

The Garden House can be booked on an exclusive basis or individual suites including the Apartment Suite with wonderful living area set around a cosy wood burning stove and stunning views from a wall of glass to the mountains upstairs and an en-suite bedroom downstairs. This can interlead with the Junior Suite with bedroom, salon and terrace and a Superior Room.

Please note Berber Salons can also be booked for groups including schools – please advise us should you prefer not to stay during a time when a group booking has been made.

Family

• 1 child under 12 can share a Deluxe Room with parents in an additional bed.
• A Superior Room interleads with a Deluxe Room.
• Up to 2 children under 12 can share the Apartment on additional beds.
• The Apartment also interleads with the Junior Suite or a Superior Room.
• The Garden House (Apartment, Junior Suite and Superior Room) forms the most wonderful inter-connecting accommodation for a large family group sharing.

Rates

Rates from £80 per night per adult sharing, inclusive of Breakfast in a Standard Room (valid throughout till 31/10/12).

Lunch is paid locally for a cost of Euro 15 and Dinner Euro 20 per person.

Please note a 5% surcharge is added to all bills and donated to the local Village Association which has funded projects such as the 4 × 4 ambulance and dispensary.

• Cost of approx £35 applicable for children age 5 – 11 sharing including breakfast.
• Rate for the Apartment (unit cost) is £400.
• Children in separate rooms pay full adult rates.
• Children age 5 – 11 receive a reduction of 50% on meals and treks.

The Kasbah du Toubkal is an extraordinary venture, the product of an imaginative Berber and European partnership. There is a shared belief that the beauty of the Toubkal National Park should be accessible to all who respect it and therefore a variety of accommodation is provided to meet differing requirements. The Kasbah du Toubkal is not a hotel in the traditional sense, it is more an extension of the hospitality that stems from the home of the Berbers who run it.
